Want stud cartilage piercing?

I really would rather have it done with a needle however; needle = bar or ring and machine gun = stud

Can I switch my piercing to a stud after having it pierced with a needle and having a ring/bar for a while till it heals a bit?

If I switch it from a ring to a stud will the hole be okay to put a stud through? Same with a bar, will the hole be the right shape, will it be too big for a stud? I really want a stud but I don't want the gun. My piercer says you can't have a stud with a needle nor a ring/bar with a gun because it's how the tools are made which is true. Help is greatly appreciated!

piercers will only pierce cartilage with a needle, once it has finished healing you can change it to whatever you want. The piercer will tell you how to clean and look after it and should recommend to come back when it is healed to get it changed for the first time.

A stud is not the best jewelry to have in a healing piercing since you can't clean it very well and blood and gunk gets stuck in the butterfly back. Get it pierced with a bar they have some pretty cute ones. Never get it pierced with a gun.

according to the journal of dermatology , 35 to 45 % of all a cartilage piercings get infected . use hydrogen peroxide , not alcohol to clean it .
