Would they ever remake percy jackson?

Ok ok I asked this question before but I just wants to add more detail. The books are great and Logan lerman would've been good...if he was twelve. I just think the film makers are being stupid. A great five book series should be accompanied by a just as great five film series and not a mediocre three film series which only seems mediocre if you've never read the books. I get that even if they decided to remake it it would be years before they started but I really hope they do because its so sad that a writer who put so much into five books can only get these three almost unrecognisable movies when his books are appreciated by so many people. And people need a new movie franchise to get hooked into seeing as movies like harry potter etc. have all ended. The movies I think would be a great success as long as they actually listened to the books. I get that the movies are just based on the books but im sure, what with so many people having read them, far more people would enjoy them. Do you agree?? Could they remake it?? Alright rant over =P

You mention Logan Lerman's age and how it doesn't fit the books, do you really think a bunch of twelve year-olds would be able to draw an audience of anyone over twelve at the movie theater? Probably not. The reason they raised the age of the characters was the draw a larger audience. In the books (which I read) you couldn't even tell Percy was only twelve, it was in the back of your mind, you really didn't think of it. At a movie, you would be smacked in the face with it every thirty seconds. Now, will they remake Percy Jackson? Hard to say. If the Sea of Monsters does well (as of right now it is doing OK domestically, but it has only been out for eight days) then the will probably make a "The Titan's Curse" movie, and they could continue on from there. If they were to do a remake, it wouldn't be for a good 10 years in my honest opinion. It's not like they can just remake something three years after it fails at the box office. Personally I liked both movies and I don't care if they're not like the books, people need to realize that the movies are BASED upon the books, they are not supposed to be exactly like the books. The movies and the books are two completely different things, and until people realize that, they will continue to be disappointed.

Frankly, as fans of the books, the current Percy Jackson movies stink. There are SO many things wrong (and the second succeed in be worse than the first...). It has even been rumored that the director of 'The Lightning Thief' didn't even read the book before he ended filming!

Cinema's history have proven that Alex M is completely wrong: The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon and Hunger Games have proven that a movie series that stay true to the books will be a great success and fans would be happy. While Percy Jackson and Eragon have shown that if you butchered the books and change the story then the movie will be awful and a flop. So yes, if you make a movie from a book, stay true to the book and it will be a success. Change and it will be a flop.

Harry Potter is one of the greatest success in cinema's history and it was leaded by children whose age stayed true to the books. Percy can do the same. Instead of 20s teenage adults, they should start the series with actors with accurate ages.

I would love to see an animated Percy Jackson's movies series made by Dreamworks especially after the wonderful How to Train your Dragon's masterpieces (they should really use the wonderful viria13's designes as an ispiration http://viria13.deviantart.com/gallery/24966739/Per... ) but I still believe they could make awesome movies out of it or even a tv series. But yes, an animated series would probably be better (considering they do not have to care about budget or casting). The point is that we all want something that stay true to the books, unlike the awful movies that have screwed up literally everything. Let's look at Lord of the Rings: the movies were wonderful, faithful to the books, the director Peter Jackson is a true Tolkien's fans and all the actors were chosen by their similiarities with the characters and because they knew and love the books. Percy Jackson should be made with the same accurance.

In my honest opinion I prety much hope they will. Because the movies are SO bad. They butchered the entire plot and the personalities of the characters as well as their looks (annabeth). It was just so awful I nearly cried from just watching. It was a complete let down from what I was expecting.(Also yes I DID read the books stfu)It was really a lot less than it could have beenl and I personally think they need to apologize to Rick for giving his book a bad name by attributing it to such a crappy and half-rate movie.I am honestly surprised (and confused) at how the movies are still going on when I guess about half of his fan base or maybe even 90 percent are missing. It's appalling that people have such bad movie sense. Oh and to those of you saying that the movie doesn't have to follow EVERY aspect of the book you are right. But that is no excuse to change the entire plot and characters so you can cast some pretty boy "hearthrob" for little girls to drool over.Jesus, you guys are idiots.Anyways, they won't be making a remake for a few yearsBut by then it wouldn't matter since all of the original fans would be too old to watch and the book probably would have faded into obscurity. **** you dreamworks...

This is an answer and a response to Alex M: I don't agree with your logic at all. Harry potter was one of the biggest movies based off a book series and he was 11 when he starred in the first movie. And I think he won audiences over pretty well. And if u truely read all the books, which Im not sure how u could because they haven't all come out yet, but you would know that there are at least 9 books in the entire percy Jackson series (including the heroes of Olympus series) and the 1st movie butchered so much of the MAIN storyline that it will be almost impossible to even follow the series accurately. And even Harry potter didn't follow the book verbatim, trust me I've checked, but the story line was still kept perfectly in tact. And the author of the percy Jackson already admitted that he sold the movie rights to the book before the 1st book was even released. So there's no way the director could have know the importance of certain aspects. But in my opinion someone will make remake

Well, I haven't read the books but I did see the first movie and I think it was fun for the teens, but not much more than that. I really enjoyed the fact that Sean Bean played Zeus and he actually survived!!!!!!! yey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P

Right now the sequel is at the theatres so i don't think they will make a remake any time soon.

Maybe in a couple of years they might. Afterall, look what happened to Spiderman. They made like three movies withTobey MG and then they changed the whole cast and started from zero.

If this sequel is a success then I'm sure they'll make more, so in that case I'm sorry but the chances of a remake are really low.

    At least that's my opinion

    Hope it helps! ,)

I would like them to, but its unlikely. I actually liked the book, but the director didnt really give respect to the original books. If it was just a movie not based on a book, it would be awesome. But... it was really disappointing.

I hope so. I believe Percy could be as big as potter, and if not it will be the closet thing to it. We just need a way to convince Fox 2000.
