Started going to a gym?

Ok after several years of a mostly sedentary lifestyle, Ive decided to do something so I will still be able to see my feet in a few years. When they were "screening" me before I started they took all my stats like weight, blood pressure and so on,tested me on some of the equipment I scored 6 on their fitness scale (the lowest). 4 weeks later they decided to do a progress evaluation(well okay, it's planned not a spur of the moment thing). This time, I scored 3 on their fitness scale, my blood pressure had dropped (from the high) by 11 points, my pulse had slowed by 10 beats, and my weight had increased by 5kg. Am I over doing it?
