If Fergie didn't think Gerrard was a "top player" why do you think he wanted to sign him?

Fergie, was a past master at getting under the skin of the opposition. He would throw in the odd remark to rile the other side. There is no way on the planet that Fergie would not think that Gerrard was not a 'top player'. There was an occasion when it appeared that Gerrard was unsettled at Liverpool and Fergie as would be all the top club's would have had genuine interest in the possibility of a transfer move.

To be honest I think it is just mind games. Of course he thinks Gerrard is a top player. I remember in January he said that "It would have been a dream to sign Gerrard for Man Utd". If he did say that Gerrard isn't a top player then he is contradicting what he said in January. It's funny because in his autobiography he criticized Roy Keane the most and yet he said that Gerrard doesn't compare to Roy Keane as a footballer. Personally he just keeps on contradicting himself in his autobiography and it makes him look like a fool.

The man is simply horrid, he may have been a good manager but a book which tries to put people down just shows what sort of a person he is.

Gerrard of course is a top player and he would never sign for Manchester United, it was really silly to offer him a contract. Because he refused he is not a top player, get a grip you bitter horrid little man. And as for slagging off people who helped you achieve what you did in your career that is plain wrong.
