Mac OS Mavericks - messed anything up?

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has upgraded to Mac OS Mavericks.

Basically I want to know if upgrading to Mavericks will

a) mess up any programs I already have installed on my Mac

and

b) mess up any files currently on the Mac.

I'm currently using Os 10.6.8 (which i believe is Snow Leopard).

Help and advice appreciated.

    That 2 year old OS install EL captain OSX

    it created a new account on my mbp. i thought all was lost at first as i had no idea where my data was. i went into users and saw it created another account. i deleted the account and all was fine
