Army w-2 question (no hate please)?
I was separated from the army after I was in from august 20th to December 20th. I was wondering about how much should I get back in taxes on my w-2. I was a private(pvt) (e-1). That's 4 months. So 1/3 of a normal pvt's w-2 is what im expecting. Does anyone have a good estimate though?
P.s.-Please no hate for quitting, im just switching mos's.

Go to irs.gov. Lots of free tax prep programs, including turbo tax and tax slayer. You can go on them and do a rough estimate of your taxes. Or you can download the 1040EZ and do it on there.
There are too many other variables for us to really help you. Are you being claimed as a dep. on your parents taxes? Your total income? Your tax paid in? Any other earned income? Any interest earned? etc. etc. etc.

No one can say. Is there any other income from other jobs? Taxes withheld from those jobs? What deductions do you have? What were your withholding when in the Army (from the W-4 you filled out)? And so on and so on and so on.
It's not a simple "you make this much, you get this much back as a refund". It depends on many, many other things that you did not include.

Dude - none of us can tell you even remotely accurate as we do not know your tax status or any of your particulars.
In fact, you could be getting nothing back from taxes this year.

Nobody here is going to do your taxes for you. Just go to the IRS or TurboTax website and do it online!
