'New Tab' in Firefox?

Whenever I open a new tab in Firefox, the new page is filled with an ad, and there's a long URL in the URL box that I don't want. How can I set it so that a new tab comes up empty, including the URL input box? TIA!

Get some sort of adblocker. That's what I did.
