Previous question on transferring images?

I asked a question recently on transferring images from camera to PC because having been in & out of hospital so often in the last year I couldn't remember how to do it. I received two replies and one was exactly what I needed. Unfortunately, this (fairly) new "Answers" deletes answers as soon as you have read them (on my computer at least) so that I was unable to pick that one as "Best Answer". If that was you, please answer again so that I can try to select it as "Best Answer".

Whilst I hesitate to contradict fhotoace my process is not to COPY images via the card reader but to MOVE images as that clears the card thus saving the need to format and makes the card ready for re-use. A further point not made by fhotoace - but I suspect also advisable - is to COPY the images to an additional back-up such as memory stick or another folder on the computer before the MOVE action so that you have 2 copies of each file until you finally MOVE the images to a hard drive or similar off-line storage device.
