When the Bible says we will be accountable for all of our actions, does that include sins that we've already?

been forgiven for?

The New Testament tells us at least twenty-five times that the distribution of rewards in heaven will be done according to our relative degree of obedience or the works that we perform. We are told frequently by Jesus that on the last day all things will be brought into the light. Those things we have done in secret will be made manifest; every idle word will come into the judgment

I don't believe it refers to our sinful lives before we became believers and received forgiveness. When God forgives us he remembers our sins no more - it is as if they never happened. When believers come before God, he sees only the righteousness of Christ.

Jesus said regarding rewards, “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done” (Revelation 22:12). Jesus said that when He comes He will have with Him rewards to give to people on the basis of what they have done. This shows us that there will be a time of reward for believers. In 2 Timothy 4:7-8, we read the words of Paul as he closes out his ministry: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”

Only those works that survive God’s refining fire have eternal value and will be worthy of reward. Those valuable works are referred to as “gold, silver, and costly stones” (1 Corinthians 3:12) and are those things that are built upon the foundation of faith in Christ. Those works that will not be rewarded are called “wood, hay, and stubble”; these are not evil deeds but shallow activities with no eternal value. Rewards will be distributed at the “judgment seat of Christ,” a place where believers’ lives will be evaluated for the purpose of rewards. “Judgment” of believers never refers to punishment for sin. Jesus Christ was punished for our sin when He died on the cross, and God said about us: “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12). What a glorious thought! The Christian need never fear punishment, but can look forward to crowns of reward that he can cast at the feet of the Savior. In conclusion, there are not different levels of heaven, but there are different levels of reward in heaven.

For those that have not accepted the Lord as their Savior, they will have to stand and be held accountable. The Great White Throne Judgment is where those that did not accept Jesus as Lord will be judged for all their deeds and actions by God. (Revelations 20:11-15)

We that have accepted the Lord will be judged by Jesus Christ and given rewards and crowns for our deeds. We will not be condemned and thrown into the Lake of Fire like those that have rejected Jesus Christ. Our sins are forgiven and washed in His Blood. There is therefore now no condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1,2)

In Light of the Long answers here, I will make mine short and to the point with something that cannot be denied.

In essence, yes, in a way, Here is the proof, a Condemned Prisoner on Death row, mat come to Christ on the last day of his life minutes before his execution,

God through Christ Jesus will Forgive him of the eternal Consequences for his sins, Yes.

BUT He will STILL have to lie on the table and get that lethal Injection (I live in Texas, who executes more in one year than all States combined)

    So he was held accountable.

Also, a Person who abuses his or her Body through Drug and Alcohol abuse, may be forgiven for abusing the temple of the Holy Spirit, BUT that person may or will still die from Cancer or liver failure.

There are consequences for our sins though Forgiven Eternally,we are still effected by them, Just Like we are effected by the sin of Adam.

The principal at Ezekiel 18:21-23 still apply. The key is repentance.

Yes, and that is where the sacrifice of Christ comes in. When you stand before God at Judgment, if you have not had all your sins removed through baptism and continually through living with Christ as you LORD, then you are lost.

This is such a great question, it really had me doing my research and biblical evidences to understand for myself, and explain as best as I could.

The heading would be: THE ACCOUNT WE MUST GIVE: The Positive Side of the Judgments of the Lost and Saved.

The Scriptures are taken from 2 Corinthians 5:10-15.

1.The Bible clearly teaches there will be a day of accounting for every man, woman, boy and girl.

Hebrews 9:27: clearly says, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."

The Bible's message of judgment is not popular today, and many denominations and churches never preach on the subject.

They fail to understand that God's negative message of a coming judgment for us all, is in fact presenting the positive message of God's Grace and Mercy.

Every time in the Bible God tells of his wrath and judgment on sin, it is always accompanied with the positive message of God's forgiveness to those who heed His warning and turn from their sin. God says in:

2 Peter 3:9:"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

The negative message of judgment is a loving warning to all mankind and a positive message of possible forgiveness and redemption. Clearly that is why God warns us of the coming judgment because He wants us to be forgiven and avoid condemnation. God gives every man a choice as to whether he will spend eternity in heaven or hell.

God's love is shown in that the way to heaven is impossible for a man to earn or merit because he is a sinner and because of his sin under the condemnation of sin. Therefore God, Himself, came to this earth incarnate in man, the man Jesus Christ and He suffered and did for our sins. HE paid the debt we could not pay and offers salvation---which means forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who will be faithful and believe and receive it. He did for us what we could not do for ourselves.

    2. The Bible tells us of two judgments:

    (a) The judgment of the lost: Rev. 20:11-15. It is called the "Great White Throne Judgment".

    (b) The judgment of the saved: 1Corinthians 3:10-23,

2Corinthians 5:10-11. It is called the BEMA judgment, which is the Greek word for " Judgment Seat." It refers to the Greek Olympic and the place where rewards were given.

There would be at the end of the competition a giving of rewards.

Three rewards would be given: First place for the best athlete, second and third rewards for those that came in the next two places. It was not a place of condemnation, but only a place where rewards were given.

God's judgment of Christians is the same. No one at this judgment will be condemned because they are Forgiven of their sins, and saved, but here all will be judged accounting to their works for Christ. As Paul put It we will be judged according to how we ran the race of this Christian life.

    3. It should be understood that everyone will appear before God at one of these two judgments.

Which judgment one stands before is determined simply by one fact: Whether one has believed and trusted in Jesus Christ as their Saviour or not.

Neither judgment is to determine whether one goes to heaven or hell! This is determined now while we are living. Many people have the false idea that after we die we stand before God ad He weighs our lives. If we did more good things than bad things we can go to heaven. In other words we by our good deeds can earn heaven.

    However, this is absolutely False.

If we believe God's word and receive Jesus as our Saviour, we be judged at the BEMA judgment and will go to heaven.

Everyone at the BEMA goes to heaven.

If we refuse to believe and die without receiving Christ, we will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment and everyone there is cast into the "Lake of Fire" or Hell and eternally separated from God.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth Not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John3:26)

What one does NOW determines where he will spend eternity. It is not determined after death. There is absolutely no judgment after death of one's works or deeds to determine whether they go to heaven or hell!

That is a totally false idea and not taught in the Scriptures. No one, after they die, stand in judgment to determine if they go to heaven or hell.

B: 1Cor.3:15, says that if a man's works are burned in the fire, He will Suffer Loss! It further says that some there will get no reward at all! This person will be saved, but "so as by fire."

It has the meaning of referring to a person who runs out of a burning building barely escaping with his life. 1John 2:28-29, says there will be "shame" for some at the coming of Christ as they stay before Jesus Christ.

1John 1:9:"tells us to confess our sins to the Lord. he verse says to confess and Christ will forgiven us and cleanse us for sin. It means He will work in our lives so that we can overcome our sins. But aren't we already forgiven?

Why does God say he will forgive us now, when other Scriptures tells us we already are forgiven?

At the BEMA judgment all we did whether living for the Lord, or not which is sin will be judged.

Yes we are forgiven, but the consequences of our sins must be dealt with. God cannot reward unfaithfulness.

Two sets of Christians will be at the BEMA.

One rejoicing receiving crowns and rewards that they in turn lay at Christ's feet in worship and thanksgiving to Him.

They will honor and glorify the Lord Jesus who is worthy! (Rev.4:9-10)

The others will stand ashamed, heads down with nothing to offer.
