Is it considered bad luck to wear black to an evening wedding in the UK?

I am traveling to the wedding from the US. Wedding is in August. Nearly all the dresses I have in my closet are black. Would this be considered a huge faux pas? I have read that it could be based on British wedding etiquette. Wedding starts at 4 pm at a very fancy hotel. Please help!

I think it should be ok, as long as it is not a hoochy looking dress. If it is dressy enough for a wedding, the fact that it is black shouldn't matter. If it makes you feel good about yourself, go for it. If anyone says anything, tell them to kiss off. You could also wear some bright coloured shoes and maybe a matching shawl/shrug to brighten up the outfit. Colourful jewelry would also work.

Source(s): could I get your advice with my dress please? :)

Of course not. White, however, is an unlucky color, because it is associated with death
