  • Is it considered bad luck to wear black to an evening wedding in the UK?

I am traveling to the wedding from the US. Wedding is in August. Nearly all the dresses I have in my closet are black. Would this be considered a huge faux pas? I have read that it could be based on British wedding etiquette. Wedding starts at 4 pm at a very fancy hotel. Please help!

  • I am attending a 4:00 PM wedding this summer in London with an evening reception. Is a black lace dress okay (knee length with cap sleeves?)?

The wedding is not in a place of worship. It is at a hotel. I am from the US and I am not sure what the etiquette is in the UK. In the US it is now acceptable to wear black to weddings when it was not many years ago. I am not sure the same is true in the UK

  • As a parent, when do you get involved in a "mean girl" situation?

My daughter is 7 and the only one in her circle of friends that was not invited to a birthday party. The girl having the party and my daughter have the same circle of friends. Although they often do not get along, when it was my daughter's birthday I convinced her to invite this girl because I said it would be hurtful to exclude her. Now she has done just that to my daughter. Furthermore I am friendly with the mother who continues to chat with me when we see each other at school like nothing is wrong. Would you say something to this mother, or should I just let it go? We have 6 more years at the same school.

  • How does one keep brownies fresh for a week?

My daughter has a bake sale at her school next Friday but the only time I have to bake anything is this weekend. How can I make sure that my brownies stay fresh. I planned on sealing each of them in its own plastic zip lock bag. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

  • Has anyone been to one of the spas at Disney World? Was it worth it?

Would you recommend the spa at the Grand Floridian or Saratoga Springs? I am not staying at either resort but would like to make a spa appointment during my Disney vacation.

  • Where is a great place to have dinner in Disney World for adults?

We will be in Disney World for my daughter's birthday but it will be my birthday also around the same time. Where would be a good place to go at Disney World with my husband and daughter for my birthday? I am looking for a nice restaurant, great food, good atmosphere but nothing to stuffy since my daughter is 5.

  • Best brands of eyeshadow?

Every morning I put one eyeshadow (pinkish peach, natural colors) and by the time I get to work and look in the mirror, it looks like I am not wearing any. Can someone recommend a brand that stays on and looks good all day? Thanks!

  • 39 years old and want to have a baby, husband recently became unemployed...try to get pregnant anyway?

I am turning 40 in just a few months and have no biological children. We are adoptive parents to a 4 year old girl who is the love of our lives. I still want to have a natural child and I feel like this is my last chance given my age. My husband just lost his job and now I am concerned about whether to proceed with fertility treatment since we do not know how long he might be unemployed in this economy. I have a full-time job and earn a good salary but not sure how secure my job is either. I feel like this is my last chance and feel that I cannot put this off until our financial situation improves.....not sure what to do?

  • Best products for naturally curly hair?

I have naturally curly hair. I want my hair to look moisturized and not frizzy and the curls to look defined. A lot of the products out there that claim to do this end up drying out my hair and making it look worse. Has anyone found a miracle product for great curls?

  • How to nicely quit a job I have been at for 10 years?

I have been at my current job for 10 years and was recently offered a great job with a different company. Currently I work with a small staff that is very dependent on me. How do I leave without upsetting and offending people I have worked for/with for so long? I do not want to burn any bridges and want to leave as gracefully as possible. I thought I would give four weeks notice. Any other suggestions?

  • How to negotiate a high salary after receiving a job offer?

I believe I am about to receive a job offer. I was asked to fill out an employment application during the interview process but before I had a lot of information about the position. I have since been through three interviews and have a better understanding of the position and it seems a lot more complicated and demanding than I initially thought. I now realize that the desired salary I put on the form is too low. Would it be frowned upon to try to negotiate a higher salary once I receive the offer and say that now that I understand more about the position, I believe the pay should be higher? Not sure how to go about this. It's a very large company.

  • Is work experience comparable and sometimes more valuable than a college degree?

Never went to college but have had great work experience, have worked as a Senior Account Exec in Advertising sales for the last 7 years and did very well. Now looking for a new job, everyone wants a college degree. Worried and its too late for me to go back to school. I am originally from the UK where it is more common not to have gone to college. I now live in the US. How do I convince some of these companies that I am more valuable than someone with a college degree and less experience?

  • After how long would you follow-up on a job interview that went well?

I had an interview over a week ago and was told I would be asked back for the next round. I have not heard anything more. Would you follow up or just wait? I don't want to mess up my chances.
