is it not properly formatted to be recognized by windows(assuming that is your problem)
try in a linux based computer
certain programs (not windows native) will detect the usb regardless and be able to format it properly.

Since you didn't tell us what you have tried to do to actually open the flash drive in your computer, I'd suggest that it could be corrupted and is no good. How about providing some information about the problem!
