How do you define faith?

I define it as belief without proof/evidence.

Faith equals gullibility, a willingness to believe anything with no evidence for the claim. It is not a positive trait.

I think it's even more than belief without proof or evidence. I believe it is being willfully deluded. I mean, if a reliable person told me a story of something that happened to them at the store today, I would believe them without proof or evidence. There are may things I believe without proof or evidence, because they sound plausible and it seems logical to believe it. We don't always have evidence of every little thing we choose to believe. However, a god doesn't seem plausible. Maybe at one time it did, but not now. In fact, the idea of a god sounds down-right ridiculous. And all the stories made up about a god seem even more ridiculous. And a lot of the stories are scary and full of hate. Yet people believe, and are actually a little scared to question. I guess after being told these scary stories since birth and told you better believe or else, it's understandable why some people would be scared to question. The more I think about it, the more I have decided faith is kind of evil.

Faith is confidence or trust in a person or thing or a belief not based on proof. It may also refer to a particular system of religious belief. The term 'faith' has numerous connotations and is used in many different ways, often depending on context.

Faith is trust in a trait, action, or behavior that has been demonstrated enough times to be considered reliable and predictable. I have faith that the world will continue to revolve. I expect (by faith) that my ex-pastor will continue to be a manipulative, abusive jerk. I have faith that my cat will meow at me while I am working in the garden. I have faith that my spouse will not cheat on me at work today. All of these things have been demonstrated to me in countless ways in my past, and I have no real reason to doubt their veracity. I can expect that they will happen again.

Not true. You go to work and work all week in faith you will be paid on Friday. You do this because you are convinced by things you see--other employees, the bosses promise, laws and courts to make him pay, etc. You are not rewarded each second you stand there and work, but only on payday.

So it is with God. You can see that what He has said about the physical is true by using objective science and so then what He says about the spiritual is also true. It is that simple.

What you believe always drives your behavior--even if it is a lie.

Having an expectation based on experience or evidence is not faith. I don't have faith that there will be daybreak tomorrow morning. I understand the cause of daybreak enough to know what would have to happen to prevent daybreak tomorrow, and I understand how unlikely that is.

Expecting there to be no daybreak tomorrow would be an act of faith.

Faith is trust. If I sit on a chair I have faith that it will sustain my weight.

Faith in Jesus Christ is trusting Him to save us from eternal death

Faith cannot exist without some kind of assurance that what we trust is trustworthy

Therefore saying that faith is belief without proof/evidence is false

    Trust without concern.

I have faith my belt will hold my pants up, don't need to second-guess it or worry.

I believe it is a domain of the weak. You have to be strong to accept the fact there's no God, there's only you and your decissions.

Faith is the belief in something that can't be proven.
