If they are not financially dependent on the family member, that doesn't mean the effect of the suicide will be nonexistent. The emotional blow will probably prevent the family from working properly at all, so there will still be a financial impact which will in turn lead to a lower quality of life. They will be sadder and less efficient in their daily routines, but honestly? The concrete, money-orientated stuff isn't so important as that they will be miserable. Suicide causes pain and suffering to many. It changes lives, and not for the better.
