a large island without a name?
Consider Hispaniola, an island that happens to contain two separate countries (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). In contrast, there is an island about 30 miles along the east coast of Florida, of which the northern part is named Orchid Island but the southern part is named North Hutchinson Island, while the island as a whole has NO name. Do people know of other cases where the names assigned to an island by legal authorities differ from one jurisdiction to another, but the island as a whole has no name at all?
First responder's answer is false. Hutchinson Island is the one south of Fort Pierce Inlet. The one I'm talking about is north of Fort Pierce Inlet and has no name applicable to the entire island. Is this a unique aberration, or are there other such places?

The whole island is Hutchinson Island since at least the 1850s, it's just in two counties now and after it was named with differnet jurisdictions and naemd north and south to avoid confusion.
No populated island is going to be nameless.
