In the old testament. Is there a verse anywhere in which God says that he loves the world?

I think Paul said it in John 3:16 .

john 3:16 says he loves the "world" but the earth itself he said was Good, and speaking of john 3:16, the term world implies that he loves all mankind. but there is also something else about comparing translations in john 3:16, some bible versions dont include the word: Begotten. so either King James and Tyndale added it to the scriptures or the catholic church is progressively changed their version of hte bible as well.

    Indirectly:

Isaiah 49:6 he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

Why would God want to save the entire world if he did not love the entire world? Compare to what Jesus said himself.

Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

    No.

But mind you, there was no hell in the Old Testament either.

Not that i recall. But if it does, genocide seems an odd way to show love.

Several verses in Genesis 1, after each creation, he did state that it was good. Then he created man and

    that was that.

    No - narry a one . . .

Lots about love for his people. God makes a distinction between his people and the other people in the world. So no. None that I can remember.

The OT seems to have a running theme that God is disappointed with his creation, and especially his chosen people. It does call out a few individuals as good/worthy though. The world itself is counted as good in places if you take the people out of it.

    That was kind of random.
