Pay or refuse to pay and lose it. Its your choice. Customs charges are not part of shipping.

Read the terms and conditions on the AliExpress site. You are responsible for everything not specifically included in the price.

The small shippers in China are not going to spend 33% of the price for your customs charge.

At this point, your choice is simple - pay the customs charge, or refuse the shipment. You should get about 75% of the original price back (you will have to pay the return fees and return shipping).

The usual wording is "Free On Board" (FOB) the ship at the port of entry.

Which means the item may be picked up at the transport destination, Not delivered to the door (aka Portal to Portal aka your door destination)

All Customs TAXES for IMPORT must be paid to the Government  at the port of entry, to gain release.

I'm quite certain that in the T&Cs it states the customer is liable for import charges.

    Stop bitching about it.

"Shipping" is what is paid to the companies that transport it, for the use of their ships, airplanes, lorries, etc.

"Customs" is a tax paid to Her Majesty's government.
