Primary school to age 11 then secondary school until age 16.

At age 16 they may elect to stay in full-time education until age 18, which then usually gives them the option to apply to university (higher education)

At 16 they may elect to find full-time employment, Such employment may include attendance at a further education college part-time, usually one day a week.

These are the basic routes but there are variations on them.

For example it is possible to attend a further education college on a full-time basis.

At 11 they go to Secondary school ( not prep school) At 18 they leave and either start work or apply to a University.

Prep school and college (what they call university in the UK).
