What happens to Hell and Hellfire Torment?

Quick Answer:  Hell is destroyed forever.

—Does Satan the Devil torment people forever?

What happens to Hell?

Hell and Death are emptied of anyone that was dead in them in Revelation 20:13. That’s the “resurrection of the dead.“ Probably at the beginning of the 1000-year reign.

—Then, an “empty Hell” and Death are thrown into the “Lake of Fire,” which is called Second Death in 20:14.

—20:15 shows that all who were not written in the “book of life“ were hurled into the Lake of Fire.

Note: Nobody is thrown into Hell after Hell is emptied in 20:13.

Note: “Death” in 20:14 was thrown into the Lake of Fire. Rev. 21:4 shows that Death is “no more.” So, everything that was thrown into the Lake of Fire is, also, “no more.” They’re destroyed forever.

There is no “Hellfire Torment.”

—The “Lake of Fire” is where the Devil is put in 20:10, where “he will be tormented day and night forever,” destroyed.

—An empty Hell was thrown into the Lake of Fire in 20:14, above, to be destroyed.

Conclusion:  Hell and Satan are destroyed forever.

Note: The churches lied for hundreds of years about Hell, Hellfire, and Satan the Devil tormenting people forever. That’s why people are leaving the churches, looking for the truth.

—That’s why they didn’t want you to read the Bible.

The Bible makes no indication of a place described as that of hellfire. Ecc.9:5,6-For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing at all, nor do they have any more reward, because all memory of them is forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they no longer have any share in what is done under the sun.

JW is a non-Christian cult that denies basic Bible doctrines such as the deity of Christ, the Trinity, salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, bodily resurrection, and eternal torment in the lake of fire for unbelievers. There is nothing "Christian" about JW. Get away from them.

The punishment of the wicked dead in hell is described throughout Scripture as “eternal fire” (Matt. 25:41), “unquenchable fire” (Matt. 3:12), “shame and everlasting contempt” (Dan. 12:2), a place where “the fire is not quenched” (Mark 9:44-49), a place of “torment” and “fire” (Luke 16:23-24), “everlasting destruction” (2 Thes. 1:9), a place where “the smoke of torment rises forever and ever” (Rev. 14:10-11), and a “lake of burning sulfur” where the wicked are “tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev. 20:10).

Because we have all sinned against a perfectly holy and righteous God, we all deserve eternal separation from God in hell (Rom. 6:23). However, God loves us so much that He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross as our Substitute so we don't have to go to hell. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave three days later (1 Cor. 15:3-4). He gives eternal life freely to anyone who simply believes in Him for it. No one can be saved by doing good works. Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (Eph. 2:8-9).

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47).

    1) What happens to Hell and Hellfire Torment?

    Vague and leading question.

Impossible to answer if you don't specify what you mean.

    2) Quick Answer:  Hell is destroyed forever.

    - if by "Hell" you mean "Hades" then: yes, we can argue that Hades will one day be destroyed, that what the Bible teaches describes something that could certainly and reasonably be interpreted in that way

    - but if by "Hell" you mean what almost all English-speakers typically mean, the "place" where those who "fail" the Final Judgment are consigned: no, the Bible teaches that those consigned to "the lake of fire" "will be tormented day and night forever and ever". If you believe that this "Hell" "is destroyed forever", then what you believe directly contradicts plain and clear Bible teaching.

    3) —Does Satan the Devil torment people forever?

The Bible certainly does not teach so.

Rather: it teaches that Satan himself will be one of the first confined to "the lake of fire", one of the first who "will be tormented day and night forever and ever".

    4) What happens to Hell? Hell and Death are emptied of anyone that was dead in them in Revelation 20:13.

As almost all modern, scholarly translations demonstrate

    the subject there is Hades

and not "the lake of fire" where those who fail the Final Judgment are consigned.

    SO

    to be PRECISE

    it is Hades and Death

    not (ambiguous) Hell and Death

    which are emptied.

    5) Note: Nobody is thrown into Hell after Hell is emptied in 20:13.

Again: you are equating Hades with Hell.

Now I admit: that's not really an error. Traditionally - and linguistically/etymologically - "Hell" and "Hades" have extremely similar meanings

    - that meaning being: "the land of the dead"

and in archaic English translations "hell" is used ***with that meaning*** to translate the Greek word "hades".

    BUT

    what you ARE doing wrong

is failing to realize that most English-speakers

when they use the word "Hell"

    are NOT referring to Hades

are NOT referring to the land of the dead

and are instead referring to the "place" where the wicked, including Satan, "will be tormented day and night forever and ever".

I.e. most English speakers are referring to "the lake of fire", not to "hades", when they say "Hell".

    6) There is no “Hellfire Torment.”

I don't know why you are using such...vague and imprecise terminology

    but the Bible is clear:

those consigned to the lake of fire WILL suffer eternal torment.

If you want to say, "but that's not hellfire torment", that's fine with me

since the Bible never calls it "hellfire torment".

But if you want to say, "that's not eternal torment"

then you are directly contradicting a plain and clear Biblical teaching.

    7) —The “Lake of Fire” is where the Devil is put in 20:10, where “he will be tormented day and night forever,” destroyed.

    If the Devil is destroyed

    then

    logically

he cannot be tormented day and night forever and ever.

    His torment

    logically

must end at the moment of his destruction.

You can't have it both ways.

The Bible passage teaches that the Devil will be tormented forever and ever.

It does NOT teach that the Devil will be destroyed and therefore will NOT suffer torment forever and ever.

That is DIRECTLY contrary to what the passage teaches.

    8) —An empty Hell was thrown into the Lake of Fire in 20:14, above, to be destroyed.

Again: to be precise, that is Hades, NOT what most English-speakers mean when they use the word "Hell".

    9) Conclusion:  Hell and Satan are destroyed forever.

Your conclusion DIRECTLY contradicts Bible teaching

in fact: the very Bible teaching that YOU cite.

    Naturally

when given a choice between believing your imaginings

and the Bible's clear and explicit teaching

I'm going to believe the Bible.

    10) Note: The churches lied for hundreds of years about Hell, Hellfire, and Satan the Devil tormenting people forever. That’s why people are leaving the churches, looking for the truth.

    False.

    The fact that YOU

    PERSONALLY

have decided to equate Hell with Hades

    and Hades alone

    does not mean that others

who typically do NOT do so

    have been teaching false teachings.

    CLEARLY

YOU are the one teaching a false teaching

one that DIRECTLY contradicts plain and clear Bible teaching.

    11) —That’s why they didn’t want you to read the Bible.

Frankly: that sounds like a lie.

Have YOU read the entire Bible?

    I have.

Several different versions, cover to cover.

Now: what are the names of these churches that you mention that don't want me to read the Bible?

Because I've attended several different denominations

and never once have I attended one that did not want that.

(Rev 20:10) And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be TORMENTED DAY and NIGHT for EVER and EVER.

    ( caps mine)

This is one of those scriptures that is misunderstood by many people who read it.

For a start the three persons mentioned (devil, beast,& false prophet) are NOT human beings but rather spirit beings.

Furthermore if people are going to say these three persons are tormented in the lake of fire forever and ever with no end in sight --- then why does it say they are tormented "day and night"?

Every reference in the bible to the words day and night have a meaning to indicate a period of time or age.

Even the words "for ever and ever" can indicate a period of time or age.

For example Jonah said he was in a fish/whales belly "for ever" (Jon 2:6) but we know it was only 3 days and 3 nights (Jon 1:17)

I contend the devil, beast, & false prophet are tormented in the lake of fire for a certain period of time until they are destroyed out of existence.

That same fate awaits the unsaved at the great white throne judgment (Rev 20:12-15) who have rejected Christ as there Saviour.

Whether they die BEFORE they are cast into the lake of fire is unclear but we do know they will be destroyed by the fire.

The lake of fire is the final place where death and hell is destroyed.

Death - the ending of life.

Hell or Hades- the grave/abode of the dead.

How death and hell is destroyed by fire is something we also cannot understand but the bible says it will happen.
