Have you noticed how many new vehicle manufacturers are popping up. Especially EVs?
EVs don't have radiators, cooling systems, engines, transmissions, differentials and everything else related to gasoline powered cars. EVs should be cheaper and easier to make. Seems like prices should be lower, not higher, than gas powered vehicles.

The have large electric motors, large batteries, and motor/charging control systems that petroleum cars do not have.
