Are scart to HDMI converters any good?

I have two old Video recorders that work quite well and a big pile of old tapes with god only knows what on them.

I’ve run through a few tapes with pretty old,  personal family stuff on them and thought it would be nice if I could digitise these recordings.

I’ve heard and read a bit about Scart converters but are they any good?

Seen mixed reviews so far.

Any suggestions?

    Most converters that work at all

    should work well enough for old video tapes.

    SCART cables don't carry any special signals;

    they merely integrate all the necessary connections into one plug/socket.

    There should be RCA outputs.  The quality should be about the same as SCART.  It's all low-res anyway.  Get an RCA to USB converter and transfer to a laptop.
