Should Mahomes even have played?
Again, football novice here ... but I understand now that Mahomes was somewhat crippled by a toe issue, which does seem as if it might give him serious problems turning and moving quickly.
Someone or more than one person who answered a previous question i posted here said the Chief's defense wasn't bad, and indicated that with almost any offense, they could have played a decent game. Not that other people haven't said that the Chiefs played well. But could Mahomes not have played, and if he hadn't, what would have happened?
Probably some articles on this, i just haven't searched for them yet, so please forgive my asking for your input.

Mahomes played fine two weeks ago, Two more weeks for that toe to get better. It wasn't the issue, Mahomes wasn't the issue either, hit a number of his receivers in the face, in the hands, in the body. They dropped key passes. The Chiefs D also lost their cool, mentally were not prepared. That is what those penalties were about, realizing they were going to get beat becouse they played it wrong, and freaking out, so they grabbed. Protection was an issue, the Chiefs couldn't handled a four man rush and the coaches, did not adjust the protection schemes to help. Both Giant over patriots superbowls were from the same thing. Four men getting to Brady and the patriot coaching staff, failing to adjust protections. Put ay QB under that sort of pressure and even though Mahomes still manged to get some key throws were they needed to be. Bad things happen.

Even with the foot issues, he was still their best option at quarterback. KC could have done a better job of simplifying their game plan to compensate for the injury.

Yes he played well. It was not his fault that KC lost. His O line failed to protect him against the pass rush. Also, KC did not run the ball often enough, especially early in the game, and it allowed Tampa to ignore the run and concentrate on the pass rush. Tampa also shut down WR T. Hill. So it was not Mahomes' fault they lost.

He was able to move fine, and still looked athletic when scrambling. His problem was the patchwork offensive line had him scrambling all game. He was still more mobile than his backup Chad Hiene would have been, if he hadn't played we are probably talking about 10 sacks and a shut-out for Tampa's D.
