How high should my CPU temp be?

If I download a game and multitask my CPU stays under 50° with the occasion spike that hits above that. Is this a healthy temperature?

depends, on full load on stock should be not too much more than 61c, while an OC cpu with a decent cooler should no more be around 71c

When the CPU is idle, or not being used by any program, a healthy temperature is anything under or around 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). Under higher load, such as when playing a game, rendering a video, or other intensive tasks, your CPU consumes more power and, thus, runs at a higher temperature.

It depends on the specific CPU, the task, form factor (laptop, tablet, or desktop?), and cooling solution (passively cooled, air cooled, or liquid cooled?). What is the ambient temperature? That will also affect CPU operating temperature.

General speaking, CPU operating temperature can vary between 35-95°C. Generally, under 60°C is considered cool under moderate to heavy workloads. But like I said, it depends on the form factor and cooling solution, as well as the specific CPU itself. 50°C would be cause for concern if that was in a custom multi-radiator liquid cooling loop, but very cool for an air-cooled or passively cooled processor.

CPUs do have their own safeguards and will generally not overheat, even under extreme scenarios - they can dynamically adjust their speed (and thus heat output) to match the cooling solution. The extreme scenario that the CPU can't slow down enough, it can shut itself off to prevent damage from overheating. Most people shouldn't worry about CPU temperatures unless they are noticing a decrease in performance, are bothered by the noise of the cooling fan, or are experience abrupt shutdowns.

Yes, that is a healthy temp. If your CPU starts to hit temps in the 70-80°C then try to turn your game settings down

lower the better , once it reaches 70 celcius then it to hot , the mother board runs at 70 celcius before it melts , the cooler the better , mine doesnt go over 40 celcius , so i know the cooling fan is working properly .

At the point when the CPU is inactive, or not being utilized by any program, a solid temperature is anything under or around 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). Under higher burden, for example, when playing a game, delivering a video, or other escalated errands, your CPU devours more force and, accordingly, has at a higher fever.

50C is fine, most CPU can go up to 90 or more before they have issues though generally you want lower.

yes, very healthy.  CPU temp isn't a problem until it exceeds 95 [C]

Totally.  Most CPU's are good to well past 80, although 70 under load is more desirable when gaming.  Your CPU has a safeguard in it, so once it hits is maximum, usually around 90, it will throttle back on the speed to protect itself.  It can cause premature failure though if you get up to those temps regularly.  50 is a good temp.
