Can't change it to higher than 60hz on my monitor, help?
My monitor can display 144hz, but the highest option available on both settings/system/monitor/advanced settings and NVIDIA control panel is 60hz. Why?
The question has been solved. The person that answered deleted his answer, which I don't know why, but I called customer support in the store that sells electrical things like washing machines, computers, screens, etc etc. and asked him if displayport is what I need and he answered yes.

Firstly refresh rate is nothing to do with your graphics card, although it can be adjusted from Setttings, advanced Display settings,Display adapter properties, and finally Monitor.This can only be achieved if the Monitor is capable of a refresh rate of more than 60

I do not know your monitor graphic card combination, but there are limitations to refresh as resolution increases since it uses up more bandwidth. Think of it this way, a screen in 4k is going to have about 4 times as many dots at 1920, and 16 times as many dots as 1080. Now, when you go from 60hz to 120hz you are doubling the processing power yet again. That means that 1920 at 240hz is going to roughly take the same processing power as 4k @ 60hz.
Try lowering your resolution to 1080 and then see if it gives you the option.
I cannot increase my monitor past 60hz until I have it down to 1280x1024 but that is my configuration.
Update - What is your graphics card, and is the driver updated?
I also noticed that in my setting under "change resolution", after the "ultra hd,sd,hd" setting at the top, once your scroll down to "PC" it gives you more options with higher resolution. I could not go beyond 60hz at the top but I can with PC settings. try that. Apparently pc standards are more flexible than TV broadcast standards.
