What would happen if nobody wanted to drive trucks anymore? Everyone is off doing other things and goods weren't being shipped?

Update:

Does the pay keep increasing until someone wants to do the job?

Self-driving trucks.  Think they're some pie-in-the-sky dream, righties?  They're here today.  And their numbers are only increasing.

When they had strong unions they could do that.

Why ask this question as Anonymous? Why don't you want to be a participant in the forum?

There's this rather not so new invention:

    TRAINS.

More cargo should go on them, so that the roads would be somewhat less congested.

And, this has NOTHING to do with this section of YA.

People wouldn't be doing other things, because everything is shipped by trucks. You can't ship 40 tons of beer by panel van.

    UPDATE:

WHAT is up with the guy calling truck drivers "bottom feeders"?  Without people who want to work and do the job, the demeaning elitist who said that wouldn't have anything to eat, wear or decorate his shanty with!

Well, the news has said that there are way fewer truck drivers out there and fewer trucks, fewer goods being delivered.  One of the problems with a world wide trade system.  People were saying that the stuck ship in the Suez canal would effect us here in the US, with TP shortages, etc.  And there is this one Facebook LIBERAL page I look at for laughs and they couldn't all figure it out.  They were all sure that we make our own, but they fail to get it that WORLD all trades together and all of it is connected.  LOL  I would think that getting any kind of job where people are leaving, like that, might be easier for a ground floor entry level job because the ones with seniority would be staying home, getting paid and the trucks still need drivers!  I have noticed that the turnover at our chain grocery store is so great, hardly anyone who worked there last year is still there! Good luck to you, go for it.
