Do Jews and Muslims say prayers for an individual in need?

Many Christians say "I will pray for you," (when a friend is ill for example).  But in other religions, are the prayers mostly preset , or pre-ordained ?

No. In Islam, I actually saw about 2 months ago an Imam praying on a dead individual. Later, he finds out that the guy was a Christian (I live in a country where it's a mix of Christians and Muslims. Both parties were naturally sorrowful about the death of that particular individual). In any case, the guy RETRACTED his own prayer by saying that (literally) "If I had known that he was a Christian, I wouldn't have prayed for his soul".
