Squid is a derogatory term for a Sailor. Apply 48VDC to the squibs of missile, launch.

It's "squid". That's what members of other military services call navy personnel.  A squib is a small firework that hisses.  I've also heard little packets of blood used for special effects in movies referred to as a squib.

     squib

A small pyrotechnic device that may be used to fire the igniter in a rocket or for some similar purpose. Not to be confused with a detonator that explodes. (US DoD)
