Apps slow to open Windows 10?

I have a new HP Omen laptop and have not done a whole lot to it yet. Everything was running smoothly until I installed Steam and downloaded a game from Steam. Both Steam and the game take a lot of time to open. If I click on the start menu and search for the game and click on it, it does nothing for a minute and then the start menu will close and the game will finally come up. Is this normal on Windows 10? Or maybe it's a Steam issue. I haven't tried any other games yet outside of Steam.

Bring up task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and see what process is eating up your CPU or memory. If it's steam or the game, uninstall it, restart, and reinstall. If you're lucky, it's just some stupid piece of bloatware HP puts on Omens that you don't even need and can just get rid of.

Source(s): When I buy a laptop, I generally like to reinstall windows to run it clean, but that means either buying a copy of Windows or running an unregistered version.

Steam games are NOT apps. Apps are small, self-contained programs that fill a screen.

Steam games are full-blown applications (programs), that usually require a decent video card (depending on the game). you should check each game's system requirements before trying to play them.

also, having an SSD drive for Windows/Steam to run on will DEFINITELY improve the speed, if nothing else.
