Why are republicans so bigoted?

Update:

So, anon, (of course you're too cowardly to post your name) how do you explain your treatment of LGBT people?

Update 2:

Way to dodge the question there, Randy.

Why do we good socialists long for the downfall of the American way of life? Because it is only from the ashes of the current way of government that the new pure and holy socialist state so we can have a purely socialist government like the socialist doves in China. Why oh why can't the racist cons just let the socialist doves take over?

We good socialists that long for the downfall of the  American way of life would NEVER say bad things about someone just because they have different beliefs from us and that is all I have to say about that my fellow good socialist and how we long for the downfall of the American way of life!

It's because, in the 1960s, Kennedy made the Democratic Party enjoin the civil rights movement, thus Democrats becoming the party of anti-racism. The Republican Party could've joined in on that, but instead, it went the other way and differentiated itself as anti-civil rights and anti-anti-racism, thus becoming the last refuge of racists.

Then in the 70s, the civil rights movement went on to include women's rights, so the Democratic Party represented that as well. Again, the Republican Party, rather than join in for the common good of slightly more than half of Americans, differentiated itself as anti-civil rights, anti-Equal Rights Amendment, and anti-women's rights.

Then in the 80s and 90s, the civil rights movement went on to include gay rights, so the Democratic Party represented that as well. Again, the Republican Party, rather than join in on not just a fight for equality and freedom for all Americans but even a fight for the right to life of all Americans, differentiated itself as overtly anti-gay and homophobic, calling AIDS "the gay plague" and "a curse sent by God against Sodomites," blocking efforts at every turn to fund researching a cure or just provide some relief or even condone humane treatment of AIDS victims, and countermanding the gay marriage movement by saying marriage is "between one man and one woman," and dog whistle politicking that further by labeling themselves "the family values party."

Then in the 10s, with Donald Trump being openly bigoted on issues of race, religion, nationality, sex, sexuality, and disability and using demagoguery and fearmongering to promote that bigotry, he made existing Republicans even more bigoted than before and made the Republican Party a magnet for bigots, the place where one could celebrate their bigotry.

So, at every step, the Republican Party has chosen bigotry and the privilege that it insinuates to differentiate itself from the Democratic Party embracing social justice (something Trump managed to con Republicans into outrightly decrying as detestable— as if justice of any kind is ever detestable) and equality. This has resulted in Americans who are bigoted joining the Republican Party in droves. This is why Republicans are so bigoted.

Leftists are the ones who tell minorities that they're weak and need to vote Democrat to stay safe.

Republicans believe everyone should work towards their own self-interest and as a result everyone will be better off.
