We have tons of perennials that come up on their own so we don't have a lot of planting to do. We've been planting canna lilies for decades - a bulb we put in after the ground thaws and we have to take out in the fall before it freezes (something that doesn't have to be done in more temperate zones). We always get way more bulbs out in the fall and end up giving them to friends and family. Neighbors have done the same and our canna lilies bloom all over town.
