  • Looking for advice on which receiver to buy?

OK, I want to bus an amp / receiver / surround sound. I would like it to do the following:

Hook to the TV/DVD and to the already existing speakers to give surround sound

Hook to my CD player and computer so I can play music

Have at least 2 more sets of speakers which will be in different rooms, which I can switch on and off at will

    Be not too expensive

Suggestions of brands would be great, actual models even better!!

  • Quick recipe for Houmus - quickly?

We are off out to a friends house in a while and would like a suggestion for how to quickly make houmus, using canned chick-peas & garlic.

Has anyone got a good fast recipe (inc. method)? Please, let me know how YOU make it - not just a copy and paste from another site.

    Mucho appreciato!

  • Has anyone seen the movie FOOD, INC. yet?

I've read quite a bit about this movie - about how it exposes the food industry; how we are manipulated into buying what foods we buy, how we're told what to buy, how many foods are really bad for you, and how we're not given full information on what we eat.

I've not seen the movie, and I'm looking for opinions from those who have - how was it?

Has your opinion of food changed?

    Will you change your diet?

And, will you now "never look at dinner the same way"??

  • Since Detroit Tigers moved to Comerica, who's been their top player?

I think Pudge Rodriguez had a lot to do with changing the momentum, but I don't think he was the best in this era.

Negative points for anyone suggesting Higginson!

  • London Underground - Are the rails in a station always electrified?

I have heard that the 2 power rails on the London Underground do not carry current while in a station; that they only get powered when a train pulls in and trips a switch. Is this true?

Others have told me that they are constantly on, but I have not heard of anyone being electrocuted.

I'm not going to jump down and test them!

  • Anyone know where in Michigan I can buy German mustard, specifically Thomy Scharfer Senf?

I recently had some of this delicious mustard in Germany. I can't seem to find it here in the US - except at outrageous internet prices asking for bulk buy.

Anyone know of any place in Michigan (or near) where I can buy it, or any site that will not require me to sell a kidney to buy said mustard?

  • Why does my Indian curry never taste like it did in English curry houses?

We used to eat a lot of curry (phal, dipozza, korma, the lot!) in London. I have since tried to recreate the taste.

For the most part, I have been unsuccessful. I am likely missing a key ingredient - I have tried pre-made and my own mixes of spices, cilantro, ginger, garlic, onion paste - nothing seems to get me there!

Granted I can make killer chicken tandoori!

  • What does the rest of the world think of Detroit?

Lonely in here... out of interest, those of you who have not visited Detroit, what is your perception? Do you believe that as soon as you land at Metro, you will be shot and robbed?

Or those that have visited the area (inc the burbs), did your expectations hold true?

There are a lot of misconceptions (and granted, a lot of truths) out there...

  • Does anybody know about Plague bodies found during the building of the British Library at St. Pancras c/90's ?

I heard there were some very intact (preserved by the thick clay) bodies found in the early 1990's while part of the British Library site was being excavated by the Laing group. Anyone got details?
