  • Algebra 2 Word Problem?

The speed of a vehicle just before the brakes are applied can be estimated by using the formula

𝑠 = (28.75𝑑)^1⁄2, where s is the speed (in miles per hour) of the vehicle and d is the length (in feet) of the skid marks the vehicle leaves. How fast was a car traveling if it left skid marks 45 feet long? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.

  • Power Physics Question?

I’m having trouble answering this question on my homework. I’d appreciate it if someone could help me out. Thank you!

Engine A generates the power P and operates for 10 s; engine B generates the power 2P and operates for 5 s; engine C generates the power 2P and operates for 20 s; and engine D generates the power 1/2P and operates for 40 s.  Please rank the engines in order of increasing work done (from least to most) and EXPLAIN WHY you have ranked the engines in the order you have. Indicate ties where appropriate.

  • Power Capabilities of Proposed Power Plants?

For my physics class I’m supposed to choose which is better for a power station... either a natural gas power station or a solar panel power station. I found out that the power capabilities of a Natural Gas Project is 545 MW and for the Solar Project it’s 579 MW. So does that mean that the solar panel power station be better because the number is greater?

  • Power Station?

What do you think would be better for a city’s next power station? The first one is the installation of a natural gas power station. The second one is for the installation of a solar panel power station. Which would be the best for the people living in the city as well as the city’s environment?

  • Friction and Acceleration ?

    1. A block weighing 300. N is moved at constant speed over a horizontal surface by a force of 50. N applied parallel to the surface.

    A) What is the coefficient of kinetic friction? (0.17)

    B) What would be the acceleration of the block if k = 0? (1.6 m/s2)

I would appreciate it if the work was shown, so I can understand how you got the answer. Thank you.

  • Concept of Friction?

At the local farm, you buy a flat of strawberries and place them on the backseat of the car. On the way home, you begin to brake as you approach a stop sign. At first the strawberries stay put, but as you brake a bit harder, they begin to slide off the seat. Use the concept of friction to explain.

  • Calculating speed ?

A wagon of mass 42,000 kg rolls from rest through 50.0 m in 17.0 s. If there is a frictional force of 5,000 N on the wagon, calculate the wagon’s speed after 17.0 s. I’d appreciate it if you showed me the work.

(The acceleration is 0.465 m/s^2, the net force on it is 14530 N, and the applied force is 19,532 N. I don’t know if this information is helpful but I thought I should mention it just in case).

  • Acceleration ?

A small rocket has a mass of 1.49 kg. The rocket is fired from a high platform but its engine fails to burn properly. The rocket gains a total upward force of only 10.2 N. At what rate and in what direction is the acceleration?
