  • Is the nightlife in Austin or Dallas a good place to visit right now with covid?

Hello! I am considering going to Austin or Dallas, TX in June of this year for my 30th birthday. I am going with about 15 friends and we were looking for somewhere in the states that aren't heavy with mandates. Does anyone know if the bars/clubs on 6th street in Austin enforcing sitting down at tables and not walking around, masks, etc? As I know, the state of Texas resumed normal, but not sure if the cities are cooperating. Please let me know, thanks!

  • I am thinking of moving out of state but am kinda broke and don’t have a job?

I am deeply considering moving out of San Diego California to Austin Texas for a wide variety of reasons (values, cost of living, etc.) The thing is I currently don’t have a job and don’t have much in savings. I would need to save up for many months before I could move away. I don’t know if I should get a job in San Diego and then ask if I could start working remotely at the beginning of next year(I was thinking of moving in January 2022) or if I should look for jobs in Austin Texas and ask if I could work remotely For the rest of 2021 so I could save up money? Thoughts?

  • Is Texas mayor right that residents should fend for themselves &  ‘Only the strong will survive’ ?

By Tuesday morning, the residents of Colorado City, Tex., were getting anxious. More than 24 hours had passed since a deadly Arctic blast knocked out power across the state, leaving them without heat or electricity in below-freezing temperatures. To make matters worse, many also lacked running water, forcing them to haul in heavy buckets of snow each time they needed to flush their toilets.

“No one owes you [or] your family anything,” Tim Boyd wrote on Tuesday in a now-deleted Facebook post, according to KTXS and KTAB/KRBC. “I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout!”

“The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING!” he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.

Boyd suggested that residents without electricity should simply “step up and come up with a game plan.” Those without running water could either deal with it, or “think outside of the box to survive and supply water to your family.” He did not offer any further guidance, such as where safe drinking water or reliable electricity could be found.

“Only the strong will survive and the weak will [perish],” he wrote.

The controversy highlighted how one of the worst winter storms in decades is testing the limits of the embrace of self-sufficiency and rugged individualism in Texas.

  • Did Travis County, Texas really have a blizzard this past Monday morning or was it just a blizzard like storm?

I'm curious to know did Travis County, Texas really have a blizzard this past Monday morning or was it just a blizzard like storm? I'm asking because my TV service and internet access wasn't working on that day and the day after. Please give me details with a source or 2 with your answers, if any of you can! That'd be very greatly appreciated. A source or 2 with each and every answer isn't exactly needed, but it's so very preferred.

  • Is Austin, TX or Nashville, TN a better city to be homeless in?

I am homeless now.  I have always wanted to move to Austin.  But Nashville is cool too.  As a homeless person, which one should I choose?  It is January so I'm leaning towards Austin.  But I'm in Nashville now and Austin is like a 12 hour drive from here.
