What would be your 'favorite' Father Christmas?
It looks like I am going to get a job at a local garden centre as Father Christmas (OK ... Santa, to all you ex-pats who live in the States!). Now Father Christmas (or Santa) is a bit scarey but there is something between scarey and kind which all the best Santas are.
What ideas do you have? As a kid, what scared you and what would have made FC/Santa seem sort of OK? If you have been a Santa/FC, what advice would you have for a newbie?

Well, my son was scared of Santa up until he was about 3 years old, I don't know what it was exactly, but I suppose it's because we tell our children 'don't ever talk to strangers', and what do we do near Christmas? We take them to see 'Santa', who's a complete stranger to them. The Santa that I used to love going to see (I sometimes went with my Nanna and Grandad), was at our local toy shop (that's been turned into a Weatherspoons now though), anyway, I liked him, because he had smiling eyes and he was kind and friendly, do you know what? I think he really was THE Santa!

I think most young children are afraid of Santa atleast during the first few years. Not much you can do.
