There is a fine line you cannot afford to cross if you want to get married during a stay in the US on the Visa Waiver Program.

That line is crossed when you enter the US with intent to marry, which you just said you would be doing.

I strongly discourage you from trying to marry on the VWP or a tourist visa.

While adjusting your status to permanent resident after getting married while on a VWP or tourist visa is permissible generally, that permission is void if you have it set in your mind that you're going to enter the US and get married. That is immigration fraud and is grounds for deportation and a 10-year ban from entering the US. I wouldn't try it if I were you. Marriage on the VWP or a tourist visa must be a genuine spur of the moment thing, where you suddenly decide to get married but had no plans of doing so when entering the US.

I wouldn't try lying your way through the process. The risk of getting caught exists, and the consequences are bad, really bad.

The fastest legal route is the K-1 visa. The K-1 visa allows you to enter the US with intent to get married and immigrate permanently. The only catch is that you have to marry within 90 days of entering the US. If you don't uphold your end of the bargain, you fall into illegality.

Here is an outline of the K-1 process:

    And some tips:

Definitely check out the forums at http://www.visajourney.com/forums. It's a wonderful community of people just like you who want to immigrate to the US or have immigrated to the US legally on family-based visas. It's all free and the people there are helpful and knowledgeable. I used that site myself when I went through the K-1 process and my now-wife and myself did everything ourselves (no lawyer or any of that crap).

    Good luck!

If you want to get married, your fiancee would have to apply for a fiance visa for you to enter, then you would have 90 days to get married and apply for a spousal visa. Your fiancee will have to prove how you two met, how long you have been together, etc., as well as prove that she can support you and pay for all the immigration fees.

If you enter as a tourist under visa waiver from the UK, you have to return home and wait until she gets a spousal visa, but if you two are married and not living together, it is hard to prove a valid marriage.

The hardest part is her proving she can support you until you can get a spousal visa, then once you get this temporary leave to remain, apply for and receive work authorization, which can take a year or more.

The problem is not getting married, it is being able to stay, married or not.

Do a search for "10 foot pole" on any immigration website and this will cover the area you are about to walk into.

First off all, I love how you state that you 'want the fastest *legal* route' but yet what you propose is anything but. Since you already know that this is illegal what you are trying to circumvent the law so that it works in your favour - it does not work like that, the USCIS as played this game for far too long and what you propose is nothing new.

As you already know, it is illegal to enter the United States on the visa waiver program with the *intention* to marry *and* adjust your status. Since you have posted this question here, you have already shown that *intent* regardless of what you say to the officer at your port of entry.

Furthermore, if you lie to the officer at your port of entry about your intention upon entrying the United States, when that time comes for your interview (you will have one), it will be on YOU to prove that you did not lie and that this was never your intention - this is almost impossible to prove except in genuine cases.

You 'want the fastest legal route' - then the K1 is that route. Get your fiancee to file Form I-129F and you will have your visa in about 7-8 months. This is the quickest and above all the legal route to accomplish what you want.

You could do that but I wouldn't recommend it. It's IMMIGRATION FRAUD to do that.

If your going to get married and move to the US, do it legally.

Apply for the K-1 visa and once that is approved you can come to the US and have 90 days in which to get married then apply for adjustment of staus.

    I really recommend this book:

    Fiancé & Marriage Visas

    A Couple's Guide to U.S. Immigration

    by Ilona Bray, J.D.

This will give you step by step information on the visas as well as show you line by line how to fill out the forms.

    Good luck!

Geez don't do shortcuts - you already have one of the EASIST legal immigration paths out there - people like YOU ruin it for everyone else. Get a fiance visa and quit trying to skirt the law. It only takes about 5 months

If you are still in UK, she can come there, you can get married there, she gets back here, applies for you! I don't remember the visas code though! but it takes 2-3 months only!

yes, you can adjust your status if you get married within the 90 days.
