Never owned the car so only opinion i have is from others and its seems to be positive. The link above is from a free site and one me and the wife use when we change vehicles due to it having reviews from Owners and not sellers of cars.

The rotaries engines are a sheer pleasure to drive, the power is very linear and they rev all the way up to 8000 rpm. This is a light engine so it makes the car handle really well and the Mazda styling is great. Rotary engines are infinitly more reliable than normal engines (despite popular misconceptions) but they can be prone to flooding if you start it and switch it off too quickly. The rotary engines are alos not very ecomonical but this will depend more on your driving style. All in all they are a very good choice if you can afford the running costs it will make you very happy every time you drive it.

I have had my 8 since october and still smile when ever I drive it. The car is unbelievable! I have the 231ps version. The thing that sold it to me were the rear doors. There is loads of room in the back. My brother is 6ft 2 and weighs 17 stone and fits in the back fine. It does drink petrol if you push it but when driven normally it isn't too bad. The car is driven by 2 650cc rotarys which makes the car 1300cc. A 1300cc that goes 0-60 in 5.8 secs and 150mph is unbelievable. The car also needs constant topping up of oil (about 1.5 litres every 500 miles. The handling is fantastic. Go to your Mazda dealer and book a test drive and I will bet my house that you buy one.

Also go to youtube.com and type in top gear rx8, this will sell it to you!

its a nice car in all, but your going to have to check maintenance on it every so while bc its a rotary engine and they tend to be pretty expensive on repair, rotary engine are very sensitive to take good care of the engine/car if you want it to last

They handle amazing and have great power in the upper RPMs. And they have great styling imho.

The downside, they are terrible in snow. They can easily be flooded if you start them and then shut them off without letting them warmup to operating temp. They are pretty hard on gas too.

Mingeth is right. The car appears to be good value and I understand it is fun to drive, but the fuel penalty, especially with today's prices, would put me off. You should test drive one as there may be other aspects you may not like. Also go to www. whatcar.co.uk as they have done reviews on most models.

Ok but drinks petrol 20mpg less around town, if not serviced engine uses oil.
