What A-Levels to take for medicine?

Hi I almost need to decide which A-Levels to take for a degree in medicine.

We get 4 options so far I've chosen: Biology, Maths, Chemistry

Critical Thinking is also a compulsory subject.

So what should I take for the last option? I was considering English Lit (but it isn't really relevant to medicine), economics, philosophy or push myself and do Physics?

Before I answer all I will say is don't listen to reece, she answers so many medical entry related answers and just gives out guesses.

For medicine you only need to study Biology and Chemistry and you don't even need to take both to A2. Seeing as you will have Maths you definitely have enough science/maths based subjects to apply anywhere (Cambridge require the most at 3).

Out your options for the 4th subject it's important to pick something that you think you'll get a good grade in (which tends to be the subject you enjoy), it doesn't really matter whether it's related to medicine (I did take physics and it is in no way related!) and some unis actually prefer a "different" subject as it shows that you're a more well rounded person.

I was about to say Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Math to AS but you answered that for me :) there's nothing else you need to study medicine so take something else that interests you, its not so much what you take but how well you do at it.

Don't take Physics unless you really want to, its hard, boring and unnecessary if your doing Math.

Take English Lit, it'll give you variety so every day isn't all Science.

You should look at the criteria for some of the universities you are thinking of going too.

They should help you choose, although English isn't relevant to medicine - I need to do it to get into nursing if I do not do Biology.
