Help converting camcorder videos to DVD?
Hi everyone,
Recently my mother has been trying to convert our old home videos to DVD and has been having very little luck. She has tried using a very basic programme which has done nothing but delete the cd burner from our pc. Now she's using the same programme on her laptop but is having no luck
Could anyone offer any advice or recommend a good, inexpensive programme that would do the job for us? The videos are very important to her as they are all of me and my sisters when we were little children
Many thanks for any help, Sophie :)

Hi Sophie:
You'll have to ignore any "video converter" or "DVD maker" spammers that might post below Alex & me. (Earlier ones have been deleted by the Y!A Team.)
Knowing what type of computer & laptop your mother has might be helpful information to post using the "Additional Details" link in the Action Bar.
As mentioned already by Alex, Windows Movie Maker (for PCs) and iMovie (for Macs) can work well, depending on the original home movie video format you have (VHS, Betamax, Video8/Hi8, etc.). If they are in a newer digital format such as miniDV or Digital8 tapes, the conversion and editing to DVD is a bit easier than older "analog" tapes.
I'll look for an update from you and be able to give a more detailed Answer at that point.
hope this helps,

Hi
Well I'm not a spammer and I can still give my opinion!
I have had the same problem with my camcorder videos that I wanted to share with my family, since they were on the original small DVD provided with the camcorder, I had to convert them and burn them to "noamrl" DVD. I used ConvertXtoDVD which is easy to use, and what I liked is that you can add a menu and merge files together. there are other converters out there, just thought I'd tell you the one I'm using works well
