Un petit cuckoo. Does that mean I just popped by to say hello in French?

A French friend came to visit and I invited for lunch, but he said, it's a short visit to say hello. Un petiti cuckoo, he said. Does that mean he's just popped by to say hello. How would I say, just popped by to say hello in French
