What is your opinion on the following statement?
"Anything a woman does a man must do twice as well to be thought of as half as good. Luckily this is not difficult."
Before you attempt to judge me from this, note that these aren't my words. I just want your opinion on the thoughts expressed within them.
Andrea, Damn! and Hanan Alabdalla are correct - this is in fact a gender-swapped version of a common saying. This saying, in the form "Anything a man does a woman must do twice as well..." is printed as a neat little saying on things like fridge magnets and sold. Imagine if the saying as I put it was sold on a fridge magnet. Would people not be up in arms at the insult?

If the original statement is true, then either men are routinely working to less than half their ability, or women are more than twice as good at everything than men. Do you really think that either scenario is more likely than the statement being a gross exaggeration.

It would have still been sexist in the past, just not objected. To all: if this is sexist, isn't the reverse statement, and in which case why can that one be sold without issue?

Andrea is right. It's the other way around. Anything a man does a woman must do twice as well to be thought of as half as good. Luckily this is not difficult. Your statement means that anything a woman does a man has to do double so that he can be appreciated half as much as the woman who did half of what he did. I think it's the other way around. It has been for awhile and is still kinda that way today.

Funny...that statement is very familiar...it is changed in that the genders place in the statement has been switched...I was hoping for originality...now I am so sad...
