Are you as confused with the question in the Gender Studies category as I am?
The majority of the question in the category have nothing to do with Gender Studies, but are about relationships and the clarification of hate. I am confused. While in college Gender Studies were the study of the roles of men or women in different cultures. From what I am told it has not changed
The three answers currently here are the best, and certainly clarified the question for me. However, to get the three points so It only cost me two points to ask I have to choose one, but don't think I didn't appreciate the other two

you're right.
in YA lots of people either don't know how to spell either. And in the seniors (elders) section young people are asking about their senior prom pictures. So I guess there's all ages who are in YA and not everyone is up on the terminology.

No, I'm not confused by the questions here at all. Your definition of gender studies is correct. However, when the section is populated by bored teenagers and immature adults, it's not surprising at all that most of the questions being asked are off topic and idiotic.
