How do I fix my Internet Explorer?

For a few weeks now, Internet Explorer has been "freezing" on me mid-browsing and sending the following pop-up message: "Internet Explorer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Occasionally it will spontaneously start up again after a few minutes, but generally it causes all browser windows to shut down. It's starting to happen more and more frequently and is becoming really annoying. I'm using Google Chrome instead a lot of the time, but as all my favourites etc. are saved in IE, that's a pain too. This problem does not seem to be related to any particular website or type of website. Any suggestions gratefully received...

Perhaps it needs updating or you need to turn off/disable some of your add ons. Look at your firewall and anti-virus...also your modem/router and make sure they are all working.

Better solution is to copy your favourites and bookmarks from IE to Google Chrome

you can take the following steps to import them to Chrome

    1. Open Google Chrome

    2. Click on the Wrench icon in the upper right corner.

    3. Select "Import bookmarks & settings..."

    4. Microsoft Internet Explorer should already be selected, but if not, select it in the drop-down menu.

    5. Select the options that you want imported.

    6. Click the "Import" button.

Chrome will then import all the settings you requested.

Internet explorer now is generally very slow and has a lot of problems that Windows isn't fixing so I recommend that you transfer everything over to a faster and more reliable browser, eg Chrome/Safari/Firefox/Opera. It will be worth the time spent to transfer, trust me!

PS: I find Google Chrome the most user friendly.

This answer might not be too helpful to you, but Internet Explorer users are a dying breed. You might just have to accept the transition to more efficient browsers
