UK. Will my prescription have changed?

I'm 47 and have worn very strong glasses since I was three. I was a -7 about six years ago and haven't had a test for about four years.

I've been squinting at things a lot lately and find things are blurry.

I was told that -7 is one of the more extreme prescriptions and not many people (unless registered blind one assumes) have worse eyesight.

Advice please.

Well, you are reaching the age where your eyes will start to harden slightly, which makes it harder to change focus for different distances for instance. It could be that your prescription has changed, or that you now need bifocals ... in truth, the only way to find out for sure is to get your eyes tested and see what the optician says.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 7, my eyes have often stayed at the same prescription for many years and then changed suddenly ... they have even got better once or twice ... so, don't presume your eyesight is getting worse, it might not be at all :)

Just go and get your eyes tested. You should really have them done once a year.

Just have your eyes tested, don't worry about what your eyes are like, just get them sorted.
