Do you think they would consider remaking percy Jackson?

I'm a little annoyed because I read the books when I was younger and I was very fond of them. I loved rick riordan s style of writing especially his humour and then they kind of killed it all with the movie. There's so many things wrong with it it's easier and shorter to list what's right than what's wrong. Do you think they might ever remake the movie and do it properly?? Shame to put a good book to waste when it has great potential to be a popular movie especially now that most movie franchises have ended or are coming to an end.

We'll never know for sure whether or not there will be a remake, it's not like the original Batman or Superman movies that were guaranteed remake because of the fan-base and comic books. The Percy Jackson books while they're popular, the fan base isn't broad enough. The movies aren't exactly block-busters like Harry Potter, Twilight, The Dark Knight, Man of Steel -- those movies had the box office hits for weeks! Percy Jackson...not so much.

In about ten years, I do think a remake is a strong possibility. If the director/writer is more faithful to the books than the director and writer of the this trilogy, who were more concerned about making money than telling the story. I'm not sure how I would feel about the Percy Jackson books being adapted into movies, some books are better as books, ya' know? I don't know, maybe I'm only thinking this way because these movies are so awful. (at least, in comparison to the books)

I really hope they remake it. Rick already stated that he sold the movie rights before the 1st book was released. Probably because he wasn't sure how well it would do. And this series isn't a trilogy as someone else stated, there's 5 books in the 1st series, then at least 4 more in the next. And in my opinion, if this was done right and correctly, it could have surpassed the Harry potter series (which I'm a huge fan of). There are a lot of facts, as far as mythology goes, that some would be interrested in seeing. I even learned a lot about the gods that I'd never known before, like the fact that Hercules was originally Herecles until the Romans changed his name :).

If they are going to, I think Rick needs to step in the way j.k.Rowling did with her books. I'm not sure how much control he has over it anymore though. Because I have some friends who liked the Harry potter series as much as me, but when I tried to get them into the percy series they said the movie turned them away :(

  • Highly doubt it, the first one didn't make a huge profit and the second one is likely to flop. Since they didn't make a huge amount of money the studio is likely to think there's not enough interest in the licence.
