If you get hit with a bow and arrow, is that getting shot or getting stabbed?
Just something I've been wondering.

If you try using it in a sentence, which sounds more accurate to describe your situation? Say, hypothetically, someone you were with had this happen to them and you needed to report it to 911. Would you say:
A) "My friend was just stabbed with an arrow!"
or
B) "My friend was just shot with an arrow!"
The term "stabbed" implies that it was manually driven into the person. This would tell the 911 operator there is a dangerous lunatic running around stabbing people with an arrow.
If you say they were "shot" with the arrow, this would imply that it could have been unintentional or that the person was at a distance and may not be able to replicate the instance with as much speed or aggression...unless they grab another arrow and run after you trying to stab you with it...

Are you asking how it is classified for statistics? The FBI considers it getting attacked with an other and has a list of options. Getting shot is much more specific.

As the arrow was (normally) a projectile before it hit you being it was shot out from a bow, I'd say you were shot with it. Being hit with a bow could be considered a clubbing.

you got gyped kid. That metal plate in your head is supposed to be titanium. Your's is recycled Rolling Rock cans.
but since your disabilty still allows you to type... I vote shot. Stabbing has no basis in ballistic performance... arrows do.
Question for you... if you refuse to pay a hooker after the service... is it shoplifting?

The traditional method of using a bow and arrow is drawing the string back and firing a projectile, so therefor that would be getting shot. But archers back in the day sometimes used to grab the arrow towards the head of the arrow and stab enemies. It all depends on how you use it.

Getting shot with an arrow is like getting poked with a punji stick and getting whacked by a bow is like getting whapped by bamboo pole delivered by kung fu master. I don`t like either.
Bean`s dictionary;
Shot = object is launched from a device and no longer under control by human element.
Stab = object is being executed in a manner that the human element has control.

You can be shot with an arrow and you can also be stabbed with an arrow the method of delivery is the deciding factor.
