Can a Christian bribe. What does the Bible say?

Update:

We live in China where bribing is culture. Our daughter now has got into the worst class on the school because we choose not to bribe. We have the contacts and the money, however we choose not to use it. Did we do right?

No, a Christian should never offer a bribe, nor should a Christian ever accept a bribe.

It is a sad fact of life that corruption and bribery are rife in our world. It's not just China. It's a world-wide evil that poisons all aspects of life in countries where the politicians are corrupt, where the police are corrupt, where business are corrupt. It's commonplace in Arab states, throughout Africa and also in the West.

You ask if you did right not to offer a bribe in order to get your daughter into a good class at school. Well, from the Christian view, yes. Just as it is wrong to accept a bribe (Proverbs 6:35), so too it is wrong to offer a bribe. To do so would be to abandon God's standards of morality and honesty. You did the right thing, but you and your daughter will suffer for it.

It is sometimes tempting to take the easy route, to compromise, thinking it's only a little thing and it doesn't matter. Trouble is, that's the thin edge of a very thick wedge (spiritually speaking) and so it's always best to reply to the tempter to get behind you and stand firm. But take comfort from knowing that the wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9) and those persons who are guilty of perverting justice will have to answer to God for it.

“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:58). As parents, we stand firm against ungodly influences that may corrupt our children. As Christians, we stand firm against those who would corrupt our walk with Christ. You did the right thing and may God bless you and your daughter for upholding the high standards expected of us.

Psalms 26:10 in whose hands is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes.

Exodus 23:8,9 and you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous. Also you shall not oppress a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger, because you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 16:19 you shall not pervert justice, you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe binds the eye of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

This is what the Old Testament says about taking a bribe the New Testament is to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. and to love your neighbor as yourself. Thanks for the question friend. God bless.

Exodus 23:8 says not to bribe or take a bribe. Many Christians are walking in unbelief and try to handle their life on their own by doing what God says not to do. We do it also in not knowing how deceitful the nature of sin is.

God want us to believe Him, obey and trust His Word He gives us. When we rebel and sin, we end in despair and unrest. God's love, forgiveness and grace towards us is marvelous, but there are still consequences to our choices. We need to choose well, who or whom we will serve!

Of course they can. In fact, Christianity offers up the biggest bribe ever made. "If you only just believe, all your sins (crimes and wrongdoings) will be forgiven, and you'll live forever in a state of bliss in Heaven (paradise)!" Never, ever, has a greater bribe been made by anyone. Can you top it? I can't imagine anything that could. True, it's pretty vague and non-specific, but if more details were offered, it would give skeptics more ammo to question the offer's legitimacy, and people might question more.

This is the bribe that Christians repeat, thousands of times, every day.

It is also accompanied by the greatest threat ever made: "However, if you DON'T believe, you will BURN IN HELL for all eternity!! Bwahahahahaha! Top that one if you can.

Have you ever burnt a small part of your body--like a finger--for just a second? Imagine a full body burn--constantly, for all eternity.

Paradise--or the fire--for all eternity. This is coercion and blackmail. The only real virtue? BELIEVE.

The arsonist who burns down the orphanage, killing a bunch of children--he can repent, believe in Jesus, and gets to go spend eternity in a state of bliss in paradise. The atheist fireman who sacrifices his life saving some of those children--God sends him to Hell, so he can suffer the burning forever and ever and ever for the thought-crime of his non-belief. This is the Christian Doctrine of "Grace."

The greatest bribe ever offered, the greatest threat ever made, all to support the greatest lie ever told.

  • It's like this;do you know God personally,do you trust God,do you believe God? If you do,then you'll expect God to take care of you, because His word said He would!

Godless people bribe because their filled with fear! The devil rules his kingdom with fear, all that belong to the devil think is natural to be ruled by fear! Christians are not to fear anything except Gods judgement!

Of course Not! God does not wanting us taking a bribe or trying to bribe others.

The devil is the one that lies and coerces others to do evil against others.

Jesus told us to not have anything to do with darkness nor evil speaking.

Eph. 4:29 Do not let any corrupt communication come out of your mouth except that which is edifying to the hearer.

Jesus also told us that the thief (Satan) comes only to steal from us, try to kill us, destroy us. He is the father of lies and there is no truth in him.

A bribe is evil to get someone to lie for you or for you to lie for them.

Judas took a bride to betray innocent blood Jesus Christ the Risen Messiah

Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.

    Deuteronomy 27:25

12I said to them, "If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind!" So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages. 13Then the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them." So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD
