what lead you to your understanding of gender?

For me it was putting varied sources, side by side, and seeing the connections for example, putting these two things together

“Emotional neglect lays the groundwork for the emotional numbing that helps boys feel better about being cut off. Eruptions of rage in boys are most often deemed normal, explained by the age-old justification for adolescent patriarchal misbehavior, "Boys will be boys." Patriarchy both creates the rage in boys and then contains it for later use, making it a resource to exploit later on as boys become men. As a national product, this rage can be garnered to further imperialism, hatred and oppression of women and men globally.

This rage is needed if boys are to become men willing to travel around the world to fight wars without ever demanding that other ways of solving conflict can be found.”

― Bell Hooks

Update:

This is just a general question for the expression of ideas rahter than about having vis-a vis arguments

It's funny, I had to read Bell Hooks for my first Women's Studies class back when I was freshman, and I honestly think that class had a lot to do with changing my perspective on gender and it kind of opened my eyes to a lot of things that I had previously ignored or accepted as normal. So it definitely changed once I got into college and started reading and gaining a deeper understanding of sociology and how society is structured.

That weapon has nothing to do with either gender or genitalia -- that's a myth the feminoids and rad-libs stole from the Far Right looneytoons and pretended to Freudianize.

Hardcore fans of the Kardashians and those that idolize them belong in Guantanamo to suffer. That you can't deny! Only idiots idolize talentless reality tv "stars" who endorse narcissism, causing drama, and getting as much plastic surgery done as possible!
