anyone got any good stories of "preppers" who have actually had to make use of their preparations - maybe Achmed the Syrian accountant?

Some people make fun of "Preppers" who try and provide themselves with the essentials for survival in case of a possible catastrophe while ignoring how the government digs out massive city sized holes for politicians in the sides of mountains and fills them with luxury furnishing and enough lavish foods to last for years, all surrounded by heavy weaponry.

It would be a sad thing for mankind if only politicians survived some great catastrophe.

I have a number of times over the years. A few years back we were the only property that had electricity and all of its benefits in the entire village. That wasn't true the following winter. You realize preppers also prepare for hurricanes, tornados, ice storms and the like, right? Very few of us are under the impression that the government will collapse in our lifetimes. Those are just the ones you grasshoppers like to point toward to justify your own lack of preparations. And yet you're the first to come knocking on the ants door demanding sanctuary from reality.

yeah, the power went out for 2 weeks during that huge ice storm

but the preppers were the only ones not whining like a democrat

I bet there are a bunch with stockpiled canned goods that would qualify as a biohazard.

Actually I have a second cousin who lost his job and had to use up his food stores. He sold his gold for mortgage and property tax money.
