Ughh i have to go this week for a root canal :( i know they freeze the area..n i guess have to dig in to remove roots? r u in pain after ?

Ask for Valium and gas if applicable it will be over in no time. Also numbing shots so you don't feel a thing is the General proceedure. It's far better to have it done than loose a tooth or worse yet get an infection and loose the tooth and risk bone infection. Then pain meds are provided.
Sorry you have to go thru a root canal, but it will save a tooth if roots are not calsified or fractured.

Yes it hurts but they numb you first and give you pain pills for after. So it's not really bad.

Of course they numb the area. They don't dig in to get the roots, they drill the roots out just like removing the decay for a cavity. There is some pain for up to a week as the procedure heals. Not like a pulled tooth, more like a sore tooth. Then as the irritation from the proceedure calms down, within a week it should feel OK.

I heard it hurts, but maybe try getting ice cream so that'll help.
