It's been so damned hot in Phoenix, for so long, even desert plants are dying.

When it got to be 100 degrees or more every day, the plants dried up. There are squirrels who still come around looking for things, but there's nothing to interest them. I will be putting in new soil and planting my fall garden in late September when it cools down. Nothing much really grew this year. The onions, peppers and tomatoes did all right, but everything else never really took off and grew. I'm hoping the fall garden will be better.

Baby frogs are living behind my honesty and honeysuckle, and I've seen baby fish in the pond!!!
Birds have gone quiet and not seen as many.
Cosmos is happy and bushy from deadheading, dalhias are blooming and sunflowers are stars of the show at the moment.
Also taken some rose cuttings and have some black and purple pansies ready for the winter.

Blackberry vines are everywhere. [On the plus side, they are producing a good crop (!) ]

Everything seems fine with the exception of the oak trees, one which is at least 100 years old has huge acorns this year and some sticky nasty sap dropping with them. The orb weavers are back with their fantastic orb webs, black widows too, spiders in abundance. Humming birds, and dragonflies with beautiful variations of color are occasionally spotted too.

The butternut squash is taking over like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and the frogs and lizards don't care a darn bit. The deer and bunnies apparently do not like hops, basil or rosemary and we did not get half the potatoes we got last year and the onions are totally abysmal.
You?
